What’s New For Dynamics 365 Business Central 2024 Wave 1

Dynamics 365 2024 release wave 1 adds powerful new features to enhance your business. Hundreds of new features have been added to various Dynamics 365 applications in this release.

SMB

With a focus on utilizing the capabilities of Copilot AI, Dynamics 365 Business Central is introducing significant improvements. With a global reach of more than 160 countries, Microsoft will be improving efficiency and output of data with features driven by Copilot. These features include better reporting and data analysis, more effective financial and project management, and easier workflow automation. Data privacy and compliance management has also been enhanced, along with improved governance and development tools.

Finance and Supply Chain

Enhancing user productivity and corporate agility, Dynamics 365 Finance persists in its pursuit of autonomous finance by integrating intelligence, automation, and analytics into every aspect of a company’s operations. Adding AI-powered experiences, improving company performance planning and analytics, automating bank reconciliation and netting, increasing country coverage, automating taxes, making setup easier with recommendations from AI rules, and scalability are the main features of this release.

Financial experts who rely on productivity suites like Excel and Outlook to handle day-to-day financial operations will soon have access to Microsoft Copilot for Finance, which is still in the preview phase. With the new features, users will be able to get financial data within Outlook and Excel, as well as create and save accurate email responses and conversation summaries in one convenient place. Users will also receive assistance when using Excel to combine financial data from two sources. Copilot will walk them through the process of comparing the data and resolving any differences.

With Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, businesses can improve their processes, gain more insight, and be more agile. Experiences for users are enhanced through Copilot AI, forecasting is revolutionized through demand planning, and warehouse processes are fine-tuned for maximum efficiency and accuracy.

Key areas like project planning, invoicing, time entry, and core transaction processing are the focus of Dynamics 365 Project Operations’ efforts to improve usability, performance, and scalability. Improvements to basic functionality, such as the ability to handle more projects and invoices at scale, improved resource reconciliation, journals, approvals, and contract administration, and the addition of mobile capabilities, are the main focus.

Dynamics 365 Finance, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, and Project Operations are just a few of the finance and operations apps that benefit from the cross-app capabilities that are constantly being improved. Users can also expect to see more value and insights extracted from the data stored in these apps, as well as the integration of Copilot AI experiences across all of them.

Dynamics 365 HR will keep enhancing the recruiting process by adding features to connect with third-party talent pools and job sites. To further enhance employee experiences at companies of all sizes and in all corners of the world, Microsoft will keep adding payroll partners to the HCM ecosystem and working to create better-together experiences that cover the whole spectrum of what the company has to offer.

Sales

As the industry-leading sales tool, Dynamics 365 Sales improves understanding of customers and increases sales with data, insight, and intuitive user experiences. Wave 1 of the 2024 release is focused on empowering companies through open configurability and extended generative AI leadership, enhancing efficiency, providing sellers with timely customer data, accelerating deals with actionable insights, and improving overall performance.

By integrating sales-centric knowledge, data, and processes into Copilot in Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot for Sales keeps providing and improving sellers with state-of-the-art generative AI capabilities.

Commerce

Dynamics 365 Commerce expands omnichannel retail experiences with Tap to Pay for iOS and Store Commerce offline features for Android. New features and an improved order management solution improve the business-to-business purchasing experience for buyers whose responsibilities span more than one company.

In addition, the next wave will bring widespread support for mobile Guides via an integrated solution with Dynamics 365 Field Service app.
